A boutique Swiss watchmaker named Dietrich displays their latest watch at the annual "The Watches Day" in Geneva.
Other than banking, fondue, and neutrality, nothing says Switzerland more than their magnificent watchmaking industry. Once a year, an exhibit in Geneva brings together some of the biggest names in Swiss watches with some of the most expensive watches I'd ever laid eyes on. The model on display in the photo above is merely in the US$4,500 neighborhood... Yes... Holy Macaroni, indeed!
The Van Cleef & Arpels display case at the Watches Day 2011 in Geneva.
Van Cleef & Arpels is one of approximately 50 vendors displaying their watches on The Watches Day. By this point, I was completely shell-shocked by the astronomical prices of watches that I didn't even bother asking the price of that li'l guy in the middle. Yeah, the one encrusted in diamonds... that one.
